India’s biggest live poker tournament is making an exciting return this year, with a prize pool of a whopping Rs 3.25 crores for the main event, the largest guarantee for a single event in the country.
Supported by Adda52, India’s largest online poker and card games site, the World Poker Tournament (WPT) promises glamour, excitement and nail-biting contests at its third edition hosted on board Deltin Royale. The off-shore casino on the Mandovi River in Panjim offers the perfect ambience for the high stakes tournament being held between October 15-21, 2019.
Following the success of the previous two editions, the 2019 World Poker Tournament features eight events with the same buy-ins for all the featured tournaments.
The event boasts the Kickoff NLH with a 20k buy-in, the Superstack with a 35k buy-in and the Big Bounty with a 25k buy-in, all over two days each. It also features a 100k buy-in High Roller which plays down to a champion, permitting two re-entries with a 40k starting stack. Competitors all have their eyes on the biggest highlight of the World Poker Tournament, the Main Event with a 55k buy-in, the final of which will be played on October 21, 2019.
This year, four-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner Robert Mizrachi is coming in for the festival, raising expectations and excitement alike.
Business Head of Poker at Delta Corp Manish J Adnani said, “WPT India is back for the third time, here in Goa. It’s been a good start right from the beginning, with prize pools growing organically. We hope to propel the fabric to the next level, hopefully setting the benchmark for live poker events for the decade. Working with the WPT team has been a tremendous learning and we look forward to translating that into a fabulous event for the third season.”
Poker is becoming increasingly popular in India. The game was raised to international standards in 2017 by Adda52 at the first WPT in Goa in 2017. Last year, it expanded the live market and registered record prize pools in all events, going as high as Rs 3.8 crores for the main event.
Adda52.com CEO Naveen Goyal explained, “Being a category leader in online poker, Adda52 has always invested in offering the best user experience to its poker players across online and offline channels. After two successful editions of WPT, it continues to be the exclusive partner for WPT 2019 and maintain the international standards of the game.”
He added, “This time, it is an even bigger event with a massive guaranteed prize pool of Rs 3.25 crores. Further, taking part in it is the four-time WSOP bracelet winner Robert Mizrachi, which makes this seven-day event extraordinary and a remarkable one for the poker players. The participation in such tournaments is bound to increase because of the exclusivity and unparalleled experience being offered.”
